Golf Course Upgrades Amid Freeway Expansion

The Diamond Bar Golf Course was facing a major infrastructural change, driven by the expansion of the nearby 57-60 freeway interchange. As part of this project, three fairways and sections of the driving range required extensive redevelopment. Judge Netting was tasked with replacing the existing, outdated wood and steel barriers with modern, much taller steel poles to ensure better protection and longevity. The installation of new nets and poles was crucial not only for the ongoing safety of the course but also for seamlessly integrating with the expansion of the freeway. The scale of the project was significant, with meticulous planning needed to balance both the aesthetics and function of the course.

Overcoming Terrain and Coordination Challenges

The terrain presented one of the most significant challenges for Judge Netting. With rough, muddy ground conditions, navigating and setting up on-site was far from straightforward. In addition to the difficult landscape, multiple construction trades were actively working across the site, necessitating constant coordination. To further complicate matters, large equipment from various trades filled the working area, making movement and timing crucial. These obstacles required not just technical precision but also effective communication and planning to ensure that Judge Netting’s work proceeded smoothly alongside other contractors on the project.

Adaptability and Planning Ensure Success

To overcome these challenges, Judge Netting deployed specialty equipment designed to handle the rough and uneven terrain, including 4×4 lifts that allowed our team to install the netting and poles with precision and safety. Coordination was key—through a detailed scheduling and planning process, Judge Netting ensured its work meshed with the activities of other trades, minimizing downtime and interruptions. The precise synchronization of these efforts allowed the installation to be completed within the project’s strict time constraints while maintaining high-quality standards. Our team’s adaptability and careful planning helped keep the project on track and meet the client’s expectations despite the difficult conditions.

Enhanced Protection with Massive Pole Installation

For this project, Judge Netting installed a total of 90 poles with heights ranging from 19 feet to an impressive 168 feet. These poles were crucial to providing enhanced protection for both the course and the nearby infrastructure. In total, 1,825,750 pounds of steel were used to construct the poles, which were delivered to the site by 42 pole delivery trucks. The netting spanned an area of 660,000 square feet, suspended by 23,600 feet of cable, providing ample coverage for the golf course’s fairways and driving range. Additionally, 791 yards of concrete were poured to anchor the poles, ensuring the structure’s durability and stability for years to come.

The netting material used was UV-treated polyester with an additional coating of black resin dye and bonding treatment. This treatment ensures the material withstands prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight while maintaining its structural integrity.

The use of this advanced material provides Diamond Bar Golf Course with a long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing solution, fitting both the needs of the golf course and the demands of the nearby freeway expansion.
