TL;DR
Judge Netting installed two new 40-foot sports netting barriers (100′ wide by 50′ tall) at UCLA’s Spalding Field practice facility in Los Angeles, CA, protecting adjacent buildings and pedestrians in a three-day installation.
Overview
UCLA needed additional protection for buildings adjacent to its Spalding Field practice facility. Judge Netting was brought in to construct two new net barriers positioned to shield the surrounding structures and the people who use the area around the field.
Key Project Features
- Two new net barriers constructed to protect adjacent buildings
- Installation height of 40 feet
- 2″ mesh UV-treated polyester netting with black resin dye and bonding treatment
- Barrier sized at 100 feet wide by 50 feet tall
- Three-day installation timeline
Project Challenges
Site access was tricky throughout the project. Crews dug the pole holes and set the sleeves, but then had to clear out entirely so the client could complete turf work on the field before returning to finish the barrier installation, requiring the job to be sequenced around the client’s turf schedule rather than completed in one continuous push.

Solution Provided
Judge Netting installed two new 40-foot net barriers using 2″ mesh UV-treated polyester netting, sized at 100 feet wide by 50 feet tall, completed on site in three days of active installation work around the coordinated turf schedule.
Why It Matters
With practice fields sitting close to campus buildings and walkways, UCLA needed a dependable barrier system to keep pedestrians and nearby structures protected — the same building-protection challenge solved with a custom rooftop net at Pilgrim School, among the other campus and facility work in our project portfolio. The new net barriers now do exactly that, giving the university lasting protection at a high-traffic part of campus, and round out the same batch of LA-area installs as Maggie Hathaway New Driving Range. If pedestrians or buildings near your athletic fields need similar protection, schedule a free consultation and we’ll take a look.
