Overview
YMCA Mission Viejo needed to upgrade its multi-use sports court, where aged netting had begun to compromise both safety and user experience. The organization sought a reliable containment system to prevent balls from leaving the play zone while maintaining the facility’s open, welcoming environment.
Our team was brought in to rebuild and replace netting across various areas of the court, helping restore functionality and control while preparing the space for years of continued recreational use.

Project Challenges
One of the main challenges was inconsistent coverage—especially around the walls and goals—where previous installations left gaps that allowed stray balls to escape. This not only disrupted gameplay but also increased the risk of injury or interference for spectators and other facility users.
Another challenge was the need to tailor the netting solution to an existing structure without drastically altering its layout or aesthetic. This required precision measurements, custom engineering, and materials capable of handling frequent, high-impact use without degrading in outdoor conditions.
Solution Provided
We designed and installed a customized netting solution that improved both safety and playability across the sports court. The final system consists of UV-treated knotted nylon netting with 3” mesh, mounted at a consistent 15’ height and spanning 120’ x 60’ to fully contain the space.
This not only eliminated the previous coverage gaps but also added a layer of reliability and ease of maintenance for facility staff. By blending durability with visual transparency, the new setup protects athletes, preserves sightlines, and elevates the overall quality of the recreational area.
