Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, CA sits along a heavily used public running and walking trail that wraps around the perimeter of the course. With golfers regularly hitting toward the trail from the adjacent driving range, the course needed a golf safety netting barrier system that would let golfers and trail users share the space safely, without walling off the scenic route thousands of residents rely on every day.
Judge Netting was brought in to design and build a new half-canopy netting barrier along the length of the trail, engineered to intercept errant golf balls while preserving clear sightlines and easy passage for pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists below. Project Challenges
The site presented several obstacles that shaped the installation approach. Crews had to maintain ongoing traffic control for both vehicles on the adjacent road and pedestrians on the trail throughout the two-month build, all while drilling into rock-filled ground that slowed pole installation. The team also worked carefully around decades-old oak trees and historic rock walls lining the course, adjusting anchor points and pole placement to avoid disturbing either.

Judge Netting installed a new half-canopy barrier system using UV-treated polyester netting with a black resin dye and bonding treatment, supported on black steel poles set into the rocky terrain. The angled canopy design directs errant balls back onto the course while keeping the trail fully open and unobstructed underneath.
